So, I was on leave in Nha Trang and Saigon in December 2010. The weather was marvelous down south and the entire country of Vietnam was in a generally good weather window. The weather, coupled with my itch to exercise made me think I should pedal from Hanoi to Saigon. The distance is right around 800 miles and, theoretically, I could do the entire trip in about 2 weeks.
Of course, I couldn't have done this on a whim while on leave, but I think with good planning and a good training period of 3 to 4 months would be plenty to make the trip in December 2011.
So here starts my journey of preparation for the trip. One year may seem a long way out, but with my travel schedule and the work that I do, I think this is the time to start thinking about it.
